Pray for the Melvins … Colossians 1:24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body, which is the church, in filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions. (NASV) “God requires if necessary for me suffer or even lose my life because Christ did both for me” - Tom Melvin |

Greetings from cold Lesotho…where it snows in June and July! It’s the middle of winter here and we want to say thanks to all of you who faithfully remember us and the Basotho in prayer. Language and culture learning continues to occupy most of our time but we know this is an important part of our ministry for now. Our formal language teacher has not been available since returning from Zambia, so we are using a self-initiated program called PILAT (Program in Language Acquisition). Basically we are using any Basotho willing to help us with language as teachers. We have found that house helpers and security guards in the neighborhood work great! It is also a good way to make new friends and build relationships. Zachary and Eli are still in school due to all the transition of this past year, but otherwise they are doing quite well. Zachary plays drums regularly for a praise team and both boys have joined an International Youth for Christ group. They are meeting and serving with teens from all over the world. They had a blast in the recent snowfall. The Basotho team will say “until we meet again” to the Gestring family on July 16. We will miss them and pray God’s blessings on them as they head to the U.S. and then back to serve in Mafikeng, South Africa next year. As for us, we are still on the move. August 3 we will move to another rental while we wait for repairs to be completed on the mission house. Pray for us as we supervise the work on the house, finish homeschooling for the year, find language helpers living near the new rental, and keep in contact with the four small churches. We hope you will consider joining us for a virtual prayer walk September 23 – Oct. 14 as we FALL on our Knees for the Basotho. There will be pictures and prayers to download from the team website so that individuals as well as groups can “walk” with us as we collectively seek the Lord’s will and direction for the Basotho in the lowlands. We hope that many of you will be able to commit to a specific time so that we can keep track of just how many concentrated prayers will be lifted during those days. Be on the lookout for specific details soon to follow. Continue to enjoy your summer. You’ll be hearing from us again soon.
