A man came to my
gate today…
what’s on his mind, what does he want, has he lost his
way?
In Africa, many
will stop by and make a plea…
for work, for money, for food or just to speak to me
What are his
wants, his motives and what is he asking “me” for I wonder...
Am I too busy, do I have time, will I respond, and
being in a new land, will I blunder?
As I speak to this man my curiosity
changes…
He’s just a man who lives in Oacha’s Nek, which is high
into the mountain ranges
Lesotho border documents in hand he is
searching for work and desperate for a job…
not unusual for Basotho better this, than to rob
He is trying to get home for the work is
not here…
“I’m tired and I miss my family” expression on his
face could it be fear?
Please wait right here, let me go in the
house for I am concerned…
for I have something to offer in which I expect no
return
I went to the fridge to gather fruit and
meat…
got out the bread and made a fat sandwich treat
I’ll grab a gospel tract wasn’t that
smart…
I knew the stories of Jesus and about His redemption
deep down in my heart
I opened the gate and invited him in…
on the steps spoke about God’s love, repentance and sin
On the porch I shared what a new life in
Christ could offer…
that Jesus died on an ugly cross for the rich and the
pauper
“Please read this tract in your heart
language I asked”…
“What Must I Do To Be Born Again?” A free gift by
grace, not of works or a task
He was happy for the food and the money
piece of South Africa Rand…
understanding that God had planned this meeting from
beginning… before man
As we parted I wondered what decisions
he will make…
knowing salvation and his eternity was definitely at
stake
The Bible says; God calls all men unto
Himself…
that Christians are to be His mouth, His feet and His
hands offering eternal life and abundant wealth
So all of this happened when a man came
to my gate…
I prayed for his salvation and I prayed… he won’t wait
This event happened
last Sunday (May 6, 2007) and God inspired me to put these words
together for His glory.
